Freight Shipping Summary

  • Maximize Your Value: We often charge a flat rate per pallet. You’ll get the most for your money by filling the pallet to its maximum capacity.

  • The "Single Pallet" Guarantee: To avoid being charged for a second pallet, use our "Add/Remove" strategy by noting a "filler" item (like grain) in your order comments. We will pack it until the pallet is full and remove the rest.

  • Carrier Selection: We automatically shop for the lowest brokered rate for you. You may request a specific carrier in the notes, but please be aware that this will void flat-rate pricing in favor of that carrier's specific rates.

  • Need a Custom Quote? If you are ordering multiple large items and want to see if they can be consolidated, call us at 1-800-600-0033 before checking out.

In Depth

Because freight shipping often involves flat-rate pricing, there are several ways you can maximize your value and ensure your order arrives exactly how you want it.

1. Maximizing Your Pallet Space

We generally charge a flat rate for pallet shipments. This means the shipping cost is often the same whether you ship 5 bags of grain or 40 bags. To get the best value, we recommend loading as much onto a single pallet as possible.

2. The "Add/Remove" Strategy (Ensure a Single Pallet)

While our packers work to maximize space, they cannot always fit every item onto one pallet. If an order exceeds one pallet, we typically ship the remaining items via the most cost-effective method (parcel or a second pallet).

If you want to ensure you only pay for one pallet: Choose a "filler" item you use regularly (like a base malt) and add a note in the Order Comments at checkout. We will fill the pallet with that item until:

  • A) Your requested quantity is fulfilled, OR

  • B) We run out of physical space on the pallet.

We will remove any quantity that does not fit and will never charge you for items that are not shipped.

3. Choosing a Specific Freight Carrier

By default, we use a brokerage system to "shop" for the lowest possible quote among various carriers for your specific location. This allows us to keep your costs very low.

Using a Preferred Carrier: If you have a preferred carrier you would like us to use exclusively, we are happy to accommodate you. However, please keep in mind:

  • Flat Rate Forfeit: Choosing a specific carrier prevents us from shopping for the best price, so you will forfeit our standard flat-rate pallet pricing.

  • Actual Rates: You will be charged the specific rate quoted by your chosen carrier, which may be higher than our brokered flat rate.

How to Request: To lock in a specific carrier, please leave a note in the Order Comments/Instructions during checkout (e.g., "Please ship via FedEx Freight only").
