Tired of struggling with hose clamps and leaky vinyl tubing? Switching to Duotight push-to-connect fittings and EVA Barrier tubing is the single best quality-of-life upgrade you can make for your draft system.

Here are three ways to ditch the barbs and go "Pro."

Option 1: The "Quick Fix" (Adaptive)

If you already have vinyl tubing clamped to your regulator’s barb, you can adapt it to a Duotight line without taking anything apart.

  • The Gear: Use a Duotight Stem Adapter (DUO134).

  • How it works: This slips right into your existing 5/16" vinyl ID tubing. Secure it with a clamp, and now you have a 8mm Duotight port ready to go!

Option 2: The "Modular" Move (Flare Fittings)

Many regulators have a 1/4" MFL (flare) connection under the barb. If yours does, this is the most flexible way to build your system.

  • The Gear: Stainless Barb-to-Flare Adapter (KEG620) + Flare-to-Duotight Adapter (DUO106).

  • Why we love it: This allows you to screw and unscrew your gas lines for easy cleaning or switching between different keg setups.

  • Ball-Lock Shortcut: You can also use a Gas-In Ball Lock QD (KEG710/KEG730) and KEG640 on your vinyl line, then join it with FE133 or KG502 and a DUO100 adapter for 8mm EVA tubing.

Option 3: The "Pro" Overhaul (Total Replacement)

This is the cleanest, toughest, and most leak-proof setup possible. You’re removing the stock valve entirely and starting fresh.

  • The Gear: Replace the entire on/off valve with a 1/4" NPT Shut-off Valve (D1121) followed by a DUO106 Adapter.

  • The Challenge: Most factory valves are installed with heavy-duty thread lock sealant.

  • Pro Tip for Removal: To break the seal, you’ll likely need to apply heat. Use a heat gun or carefully pour boiling water over the threads for 60 seconds to soften the sealant before using a wrench. It’ll pop right off!

Which one should you choose?

  • Go with Option 1 if you’re on a budget and want to be brewing in 5 minutes.

  • Go with Option 3 if you want a "buy it once, use it forever" setup that looks like a professional taproom.
