| Issue | Quick Fix |
| Controller Frozen / "RAPT" Blinking | Needs Firmware Update. Hold UP + DOWN to reset and connect to Wi-Fi. |
| Error Code: 5379 | Weak Wi-Fi signal. Move the unit closer to the router or use a mobile hotspot. |
| Unit Not Heating | Ensure the Flame Icon is on and Heating % is set to 100%. Check internal dip switches. |
| Temperature Inaccurate | Use NTC Ref calibration (Offline) or 2-point calibration (Online). Switch to Metric for best results. |
| Leaking Sight Glass | Apply food-grade thread sealant to the connection between the ball valve and inner housing. |
| Malt Pipe Difference | US models feature a single-stage lift (patent compliance). |
Getting Started: Setup & RAPT Connectivity
The Gen 4 BrewZilla utilizes the RAPT portal for remote monitoring and firmware updates.
Firmware Update Best Practices
Automatic Updates: Keep the unit plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi; it will update automatically when idle.
Avoid Power Cycles: Do not turn the unit off immediately after an update, or it may revert to the old firmware as a safety "fault" measure.
Signal Strength: Perform updates near your router. If you see Error 5379, the signal is too weak.
Safety Lock: Updates will not occur while a brew profile is active to prevent mid-mash failures.
Registration & Offline Mode
To Register: Follow the on-screen prompts once connected to Wi-Fi to sync with the RAPT portal.
To Skip Wi-Fi: If you prefer to brew offline, press Select to skip registration and disable Wi-Fi in the settings menu.
Temperature Calibration
For the most accurate readings, we recommend the following expert tips:
Switch to Metric: For the highest precision, set the unit to Celsius. Fahrenheit conversions can occasionally cause minor calculation drift.
Offline Calibration (NTC Ref): * Navigate to
Settings>NTC ref Temperature. If the screen reads lower than your trusted thermometer, adjust the NTC value Up.
If it reads higher, adjust the NTC value Down.
Online Calibration: The advanced 2-point calibration tool is available when the unit is connected to the RAPT portal.
Pro Tip: When mashing, consider reducing power to 1125W to prevent overshooting your target temperature when the elements engage.
Hardware & Maintenance
Malt Pipe Design (US Models)
If you are upgrading from an older model, note that the US Gen 4 malt pipe has one set of feet rather than two. This requires a single, steady lift to the drainage position.
False Bottom
Current units ship with a 1-ring false bottom. This design has looser tolerances than the original 2-ring version to make removal easier. If yours fits loosely and has only one center ring, it is the correct, updated design.
Sight Glass Leaks
If you experience a leak at the clear sight glass, it is likely the seal between the ball valve and the inner housing.
Fix: Disassemble the sight glass assembly and apply food-grade thread sealant to the threaded connection point.
Heating Issues (Advanced)
If the unit is powered on but failing to heat:
Check the Controller: Is the flame icon visible? Is the heating power set to 100%?
Listen for the "Click": You should hear an audible mechanical click when the element engages.
Internal Dip Switches: If the unit won't reach 100% power, verify the internal dip switches (located on the circuit board) are set to the correct volume/wattage for your specific model.
Factory Resets & Rollbacks
If the controller behaves erratically, use these button combinations while powering the unit on:
Factory Reset (Clear Memory): Hold UP + DOWN arrows and cycle the power.
Firmware Rollback: Hold ALL 4 BUTTONS and cycle the power.
