To tap a commercial keg, you need a Sanke Coupler (also called a keg tap) that matches the specific brewery's keg valve. While most North American beers use a standard "D-Style" coupler, many imports and craft specialties require different designs.

Popular Sanke Coupler Styles

  • D-Style (American Sankey): The standard for nearly all North American breweries (e.g., Budweiser, Coors, Miller, and local craft breweries).

    • D1506: Standard D-Style with Stainless body.

    • D1523: KOMOS D-Style with Stainless body w/ PRV.

    • D1527: KOMOS D-Style with Stainless body.

    • D1502: Taprite D-Style with a high-quality Stainless Steel body.

  • S-Style (European Sankey): Features a longer probe than the D-style. Used for many European brands like Heineken, Stella Artois, and Amstel.

    • D1534: KOMOS S-Style European Coupler w/ PRV.

  • A-Style (German Slider): A "slide-on" style used by many German breweries like Warsteiner, Spaten, and Paulaner.

    • D1516: A-Style German Slider.

  • G-Style: Used for British brands like Bass and Boddingtons, as well as Anchor Brewing.

  • U-Style (Guinness/Harp): Specifically designed for Guinness and Harp kegs.

    • D15201: U-Style "Guinness" Coupler.

Some couplers include the barbed fittings, hex nuts and gaskets required to attach 3/16" or 1/4" tubing to match your draft and gas tubing. Buying a "bare" coupler allows you to customize your connection.  For more information on barb sizes and tubing, see our guide on tubing sizing and connections
