Getting your own hop garden started is one of the most rewarding projects for a homebrewer! Because we are working with live plants and natural harvest cycles, the process for ordering hop rhizomes is a little different than our standard products.

Here is everything you need to know about our seasonal hop rhizome program.

 The Season: Presale & Delivery

Hop rhizomes are available only once a year. To ensure you get the specific varieties you want, we offer a Presale period starting in February.

  • Why Presale? This allows us to coordinate with our hop farms so they know exactly how much to harvest.

  • When do they ship? Nature is in charge here! Depending on the spring thaw, rhizomes typically ship between late March and early May.

Fresh from the Farm to Your Door

We take the freshness of your plants seriously. Once the hop farms uproot the rhizomes, they are sent immediately to our warehouse.

As soon as they arrive, it is "All Hands on Deck" for our team. We move quickly to separate, label, and pack your rhizomes in moisture-retaining packaging to ensure they arrive at your door healthy and ready to plant.

 Shipping & Delivery Information

To get your plants to you as fast as possible, all rhizomes are shipped via USPS Priority Mail.

  • Free Shipping: Your rhizome order qualifies for our MoreSaver! Free Shipping if the total meets our current shipping threshold.

  • Tracking: You will receive a tracking number the moment your plants head out our door so you can prepare your soil for their arrival.

 Shipping Restrictions

Due to agricultural regulations and the risk of spreading hop-specific pests or diseases, there are strict rules regarding the transport of live hop plants:

  • Prohibited States: We cannot ship rhizomes to Hawaii, Oregon, or Washington.

  • International: We are unable to ship live plants outside of the United States.

  • Local Guidelines: We always recommend checking with your local agricultural authorities before importing live plants to your residence or business.

Pro Tip: Get Your Soil Ready Early!

Since shipping dates depend on the weather, we recommend having your pots or garden beds prepped by mid-March. When that USPS package arrives, you'll want to get your rhizomes in the ground (or the fridge) immediately!
